It has been a while since many of us met on that 14th day in April, 2008. A lot has happened so let me update you all.
Parental Care Ministries USA Inc.
Many of you were present at the Arcadia that night. We have decided to form our own nonprofit ministry.
Luke 6:43-45 “ For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit; nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is know by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”
The Lord has shown us we can take on this mighty work of his and be a vessel to support Emmy, his 150 orphans , and the 28 pastors and their churches.
100 % of the support raised will go to these precious believers in Uganda.
The nonprofit is called the same name as Emmy’s non profit in Uganda, Parental Care Ministries. He is thrilled that we have taken on this challenge. Currently there is a group of 5 board members who will guide Monica and I in this process of helping Pastor Emmy. These people i have prayed over and each is eager to help in their own expertise. I am so grateful for each one of them. Many thanks to one fabulous lawyer, Chuck Bauman for helping us establish the nonprofit.
Recent Construction
The Lord provided some funds this month and Emmy quickly put them to use in just a matter of days. Amazing. He has been waiting so patiently his nearly entire Christian life for these things to start happening. I cant tell you the joy he communicates to me and what the Lord is doing for them.
Here is a picture of the new kitchen. Early photo but it was just constructed last this week. No longer will the orphans have to go next door to the neighbor and travel with their plates. This is a huge answer to prayer. Also the latrine has been bricked and cemented and is nearly finished. Notice in the picture at the top of the blog page the joy on the boys faces. Some of them are holding on to balloons that we brought them in March.
Bibles
32 New King James teaching Bibles were shipped out the middle of May. We got a great deal on them at 1/2 price ($35) through Monica’s brother in law at his Mardel store in Oklahoma. The shipping was expensive ($600) but they should arrive any day. So many of you were oh so generous in this effort ( especially the Traweek family) and i want personally thank you from these precious pastors. Emmy will be gathering a message and a picture from them and we will make that in to another DVD to distribute to anyone who wants to see it.
VAN
The Lord has provided the funds for a ministry van for Pastor Emmy!!! It will most likely be a 12 passenger van and be used to travel around Uganda. Pray that the funds arrive in time to purchase the specific one that Pastor Emmy and his driver , Emmy the “Playmaker” found this week. This van will quickly be put to use as we have 2 friends, one from Arizona and one from Denmark, going to visit Emmy on June 17th. They will be the first guests to ride in this new ministry vehicle. It most likely will have a nice new clean winshield without big cracks in it and bolts on the tires that don’t fall off in the middle of the road. ;o)
VISA
Emmy goes to the US Embassy 6/11/08 for another try at a US Visa. This time his income has increased, he has a letter from the Governor of his area, and he has the documents of our ministry and a letter of invitation. He will have to qualify on his own despite all the letters of recommendation.
DVDs I have distributed many dvds covering our trip in March. It is 54 mintues, rated G and better than anything at Blockbuster. If anyone did not receive one and would like one please let me know. I will also be working on a shorter version to distribute to those DVD #2 in June featuring Pastor Emmy’s story. I hope to show you the real live version (Emmy in Tyler Tx) in July for you all to meet this great man of God after his visa is approved. Video number 3 will be stories from the orphans themselves.
Prayer Requests:
-
1.Construction: For the Lord to continue to pour resources in to this Henderson Parental School of orphans. Our prayer is for beds (getting the orphans off the floor) , desks (having them sitting in class instead of lying on the dirt) , books (they need textbooks), and uniforms. Many children come by and tease the orphans since they don’t look like they are school children. The orphans gather together and pray for uniforms instead of yelling back. Oh Lord, give me such wisdom for my adversaries.
-
2.Visa Keep this one on the top of your list. If it is the Lord’s will, may he grant Emmy a visa. Remember especially the evening of June 10th which will be early morning of June 11th there in Uganda. Pray that the counselor officer have mercy and see what the Lord is growing through this man called Emmy
-
3.Van Specifically that the money would reach in time to purchase the van that Emmy has selected. That this van would be a vessel of God’s love to many throughout Uganda.
-
4.Travel-Safe travel for our friends Deborah and Imke as they travel to see Emmy June 17-20 and encourage the many pastors through prayer.
-
5.Our moms Monica’s mom has had 2 rounds of chemo and it seems to have helped her. She will have repeat cat scans done to see the effect on the lung cancer tumor which was spread to liver and bone back in March. My mom had surgery back in April for colon cancer and is doing well. The doctors want to do oral chemo starting in July for 6 months. Keep both of them in your prayers !!
Thank you to all those still reading this. This is a big work for the Lord and i am constantly asking the Lord for direction on which way to go. Sometimes in my own flesh, i think i am going the right way but i am often redirected.
I am so grateful for all the support we have received and the support is yet to come.

Here is a picture of the boys celebrating the completion of their dorm. No longer will they be scattered around the village in inadequate rooms that are overcrowded.
