Merry Christmas from Parental Care Ministries

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Here is the latest photo from Uganda.  It has a picture of the 30 orphans who had no where to go for Christmas.  These are the poorest of the poor. They have no home to return to or their parents want nothing to do with them. Pastor Emmy and Supermom oversee these children during the Christmas break and care for all their needs. Each year, the Lord provides funds for a celebration.  This year,  Emmy’s friend Christina, has been with the Nnyanzi’s these last few weeks of December.  She has many friends in the Northwest who have raised some terrific support.  Each orphan was able to pick one new outfit out of a pile of clothes and this would be his or her Christmas present.  They will also have a Christmas day feast at the school tomorrow.  Emmy is going to send us some pictures of that as well.   Aren’t these caramel faces in these bright colors so beautiful.

Emmy and Grace in England

Here is a picture of Emmy and Grace in England.  Much colder there much like most of the USA. He recently wrote me an email and i would like to share it as a Christmas devotional.  Here are Emmy’s words:

Beloved  ,

I have been meditating a lot about this Poor Widow in 2Kings 4:1-7

2 Kings 4

1 One day the wife of a man from the guild of prophets called out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead. You well know what a good man he was, devoted to God. And now the man to whom he was in debt is on his way to collect by taking my two children as slaves.” 2 Elisha said, “I wonder how I can be of help. Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

“Nothing,” she said. “Well, I do have a little oil.”

3-4 ”Here’s what you do,” said Elisha. “Go up and down the street and borrow jugs and bowls from all your neighbors. And not just a few—all you can get. Then come home and lock the door behind you, you and your sons. Pour oil into each container; when each is full, set it aside.”

5-6 She did what he said. She locked the door behind her and her sons; as they brought the containers to her, she filled them. When all the jugs and bowls were full, she said to one of her sons, “Another jug, please.”

He said, “That’s it. There are no more jugs.”

    Then the oil stopped.

7 She went and told the story to the man of God. He said, “Go sell the oil and make good on your debts. Live, both you and your sons, on what’s left.”

Even her name was not known up to now but her story comes between many stories of big men,Famous Kings. But her husband and her entire family was well know as a God-fearing Family. No matter her husband’s name was also not very popular but he was a God-fearing Man.No matter his family was full of problems and debts but he was still very royal and obedient to God.He really kept his faith to the end.The Bible says the Lord shall not put to shame those who trust in Him.This story teaches us that God is much concerned even to those who looks to be nobody to answer their prayers because they trusted in Him.No matter what other are calling you but the relationship you build between yourself and your God will determine your tomorrow.  Note verse 2b “What have you got in your house.”
Many people are moving with an empty life.Nothing can quench their thirstiness at all.But those with Christ Jesus they can be contented with the little they have and eventually the Lord can multiply that little they have to more than enough.1Tim 6:6-10 Paul warned his Spiritual son about that big problem of loving Worldly riches than God.Many have perished because of this. Many have abandoned the faith because of this.Be careful beloved what is your biggest worry as you’re ending this year? Why is making you so much worried? This poor widow first made a negative confession that “your Servant has nothing in her house.” But she remembered that she had a little flour and Oil in her pot which was almost equal to nothing but it was there. There is still a little strength in you which is almost equal to nothing but the Merciful Lord want to multiply that little strength in you so that you can remove all those huge mountains which are standing in front of you.
There is still a little faith which almost like nothing but don’t give up the Lord is going to increase that faith so that you can move from one level to another.
Don’t fear to give out what is not enough so that the Lord can give you what is enough.I don’t know what the Lord is asking you to give out but you listen carefully from Him He is so much willing to tell you what you can do for Him to bless you.”What do you have in your house?” the Lord is still asking that question now to you and to me.Please check yourself.Stop confessing that I have nothing,ie Lord there is no strength left within me,no faith all has gone, very poor nothing to give to you Lord.etc What you call like nothing that is very big for the Lord to start with that to bless you.Give the Lord the room to speak with you.Elisha told the Poor widow that after borrowing the jars you and your Son close yourselves inside the house. That also means they didn’t need any help from their neighbors so that the Lord can perform this Miracle to them. This miracle to happen it needed only these 2 family members and God only. Some circumstances in your life, family
or Job they don’t need to much people to help you through but you only need time to close your bedroom door and pour all which is on your heart to God.I promise you that will be the end of that problem. How long do you have to speak with your God daily? Beloved it is my prayer that this coming year you may move from power to power and from glory to another glory.Thank you very much for being such good friend in Christ.
Pastor Emmy

Hello Ugandan Bloggers

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

We are so excited to announce the launch of our new website   www.parentalcareministries.org The old site (www.helppastoremmy.com) will direct you to the new one.

Here you will find many new changes: a description of our ministry, a better blog, pictures of all the orphans, pictures of the school staff,  pastors, a prayer/ devotional link, a media guide, and how to contribute towards the Lord’s work in Uganda. Only a fraction of the material has been loaded so keep checking back daily. We also have a new logo which we will explain the significance of very soon.

We were blessed to have a meeting last week at Grace Community Church and launch our sponsorship campaign.  If you were not there you missed the premier of Bubba Productions, video #2……Team Uganda 11/08.  Copies are available for those of you who would like one. We already have 20 orphans sponsored for a tax deductible donation of $35 a month.   You will notice a small asterisk in front of the child’s name meaning they are already sponsored.  Everyone else is available. The sponsoring family is located in the description. The funds cover shelter, uniforms, teacher and staff salaries, food and security for these precious orphans.  There is no administrative fee.  It’s all tax deductible through our nonprofit organization, Parental Care Ministries.  We will roll out the details of the communication between sponsoring families and the orphans soon. Suffice to say,  it is going to be a joy to love on them and you are going to see this investment in His Kingdom up close and personal. Our ability to visit these children and love on them is a special honor. So, if you want a new member of the family that is well behaved, thankful and loves the Father, they are waiting on our website.  The picture loading process is labor intensive, so please be patient with the IT department at PCM.

We have many more exciting projects currently underway which we will share on this site.  We are working hard on the Robert Mukwaya water well,  the Esther blanket drive, and the Ivan croc shoe campaign. If you would like to be a part of these efforts please let us know.  All donations are to be made to Parental Care Ministries, 3610 River Oaks ,  Tyler Tx 75707.

We will be shifting from our email contact as well. This is even a change from what is on the video from last week.  Our new email will be parentalcareministries@gmail.com    Please use this to communicate with us if needed.

Thanks for being a part of our ministry.  We may be starting small but we have a big heart for His children.

In His service,

Mark and Monica Barret

Tragedy Strikes Parental Care School

Tragedy strikes Mbarara Parental School.  Robert Mukwaya,  Emmy’s nephew who came to live with him after his father was killed in a car accident,  died this week helping the orphans. He was filling the 5 gallon containers with river water when he slipped and fell in to the river behind the school.  Like many Africans, Robert had never been given the opportunity to learn how to swim.  He drowned to death just a short distance from where Moses and Simon travel 45 x a day to get water.

Here is an description of Robert from one of Emmy’s recent emails:

Keep us in prayers because his body is not yet seen up to now. It is really painful to us but let us encourage ourselves in the Lord. Robert was very social and understanding man. He was so obedient that even though he has been without his own home with a wife and children, I could call him to do something for me and he would come. He could do whatever i have asked him to do with all his heart. Even now he came when I had called him to help me on that big day of 3rd Nov when we were welcoming Bub and the team. He never went back home because he said let him help us for more days. He had a barber salon in which he has been getting some money to feed his family.

Beloved Monica tears are too much in my eyes let me stop for now ,more later.

So you can all pray for Emmy and his family.  They have suffered a traumatic loss of a family member.  A helpful servant to the orphans is now at the hand of our Father.  We were able to meet Robert for a short time while we were there.  He was a meek man, unassuming and humble.  He just shook my hand and smiled. I never knew he meant so much to Emmy.  I never dreamed this would be the last time i would see him.

This has been really affecting Emmy greatly. It has cast a shadow on some really great news that i have been wanting to tell everyone.  You see, Emmy is not in Uganda.  He surprised us by telling us last week he has received a visa to the UK a few months ago.  Some friends in the UK at the last minute helped pay for a ticket for himself and his eldest daughter Grace to visit.  They had come to visit Emmy many years ago and had remained in touch.  Emmy was on a train in the middle of England when he got the news of his nephew.   He called me crying……….he was sitting across from some English people on the train who had been staring at him for the past 2 hours. They made no attempt to comfort him or even ask him what had happened.  He told me this was very strange to we Africans.  All i could do is listen to him cry…..and then i got to pray for him and Robert.  I can’t even remember what the Lord helped me say…….all i know is that my close brother from Uganda was and is hurting.

Emmy is wondering what in world is he doing in the UK at a time like this.  I think the Lord is showing him a few things.  He can not on his own strength do it all for everyone all the time.  Others are going to have to be there and help him, especially in times of crisis and need like this one.  He will stay in the UK  until November 30th with Grace visiting several churches. I truly think the main reason he is there is not to visit his friend of long ago or share his testimony with the few that want to hear it, but rather to show our US government that he has no plans of immigrating. He has a huge job to do and he has willingly accepted it.

I would like you all to begin praying for Emmy to get approved the next time we apply for his visa. We want him and his head teacher, Perescah,  to visit our town and school in Tyler TX this February.  It will be part of a teacher exchange that we hope to bring a teacher with us on our next trip this summer.

In Him,

Bub

Please let Pastor Emmy know that we are lifting him and his family up in prayer to our heavenly Father who loves us.  What a testimony this man’s life is in his death.  Surely it is god that we do not mourn the sorrow of the unbelievers!  Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.  Standing with the saints for the saints,

Bub,
My heart is heavy with this news for Emmy and his family, as well as you and “the team.” While I have yet to meet this saint, this brother in Christ has made a lasting impression on me through your team’s trip and blogs, and my heart and prayers are across the miles this morning. Robert is safely in our Saviors arms, and it’s my prayer that those arms are also comforting all of you this morning.

May God continue to bless you my friend

Please pass this note to Emmy for me.
Oh dear, dear Brother Emmy, Your brothes and sisters across the sea are praying very hard for you and the orphans and Robert’s loved ones to be comforted by the GREAT Comforter during this season of pain. There are no words from us that can help you feel less sorrow about your great loss except the words that we offer up to your Father, and ours, for you. And so we do. Just know we that we are. He too once had great loss and understands everything you all feel. May He comfort you that  Robert is not and orphan NOW . . .nor is his back hurting from carrying water down here. He is  WITH the Water of Life and for that we know you rejoice even if it’s just from your “head” while you grieve. We know that your wonderful spirit will be rejoicing when the grief is over. We love so much though we don’t see you. We rejoice that you were such a  wonderful example of Jesus to Robert.   Love from our hearts, BettyRae and Norman
