PCM 2009 Christmas Project

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Hello PCM Supporters.   We are excited about our 2009 Christmas project……..a little dump truck and some evangelism equipment to go with it.  That’s right!  We are looking for a truck similar to this one to serve multipurpose functions in our ministry. Our fundraising goal is $25000 for this project. There will be primarily three main objectives of such a vehicle:

1. We need a truck to carry evangelism equipment to the rural villages where our 43 PCM pastors can share God’s Word like they never have had a chance before to do so.  We are having a crusade 12/21-12/24 near Emmy’s first church site and we need a truck to carry the generator, speakers, microphones and worship equipment which is all still needed.  This will hopefully be the first of many evangelism outreach opportunities. We will also have a projector and copies of the “Jesus film” to share with thousands of Ugandans.  We are thankful for our “Miracle Van” and it’s many uses, but to reach the masses…..we need a happy little truck like the one above.

.

2. This truck will allow us to travel directly to the village farmers and purchase food at a 30% cost savings. Currently our food bill to feed 270 people each day is our single biggest expense.   At 10 cents a meal, we are doing the best we can with the current options available in Mbarara.  This truck would allow us to not only buy fresh fruits and vegetables, but to give our orphan children more variety in their diet.  It would allow variation from beans, potatoes, and bananas at every meal. That will make for even healthier and happier children.

3. Finally the third purpose will be to assist in the construction process at our school and other future sites. In Uganda,  it seems they use the motor bike to carry everything from bed frames to bananas to people.  To make our building process more efficient and cheaper, we need a truck like the one below to help us finish out our current school site and be able to move on to other projects.

We hope you will rejoice in the “truckload of love” the Father has given you through His Son Jesus this Christmas!!!

PCM Bloggers,

1. We wanted to share a story from our friends in Longview and what they have done for the orphans for Christmas.  Here is an email from our good friend and illustrator/writer Annette Childress:

Hello, Pastor Emmy and Sarah,
Congratulations on getting your visas that would allow you to come to England for planning and some much needed rest!!  We are thankful that many of the children are feeling better. Congratulations, too, on the progress on the  bathhouses!
I have some more good news!  Mark asked me to write you and tell you that they will be bringing 222 pillowcases for the children when they come in December!  A friend of mine saw the photo of the children on their bunk beds and said, “Wouldn’t it be nice if the children had a pillowcase of their own?”  I emailed Mark and he said, “Sounds great. If you can do the pillowcases, we’ll buy the pillows when we get there.  This will be a wonderful Christmas gift for the children!”
I was excited about the project, but I thought, “Oh, my!  How will we ever get this project finished by December?”  I should not have worried.  This was God’s project and He helped us every step of they way!  In one week’s time, we were able to find brightly colored sheets on sale for 75%-80% off and 13 ladies (that I call “Sewing Angels”) from my church volunteered to work together to make the pillowcases.
They made 112 on one day and completed the rest by the end of the week!  On Sunday, we told two classes at church about your wonderful children and the pillowcase project.  The donated $475–enough to pay for the sheets and to pay for some Christmas coloring books that we want to send to the children and maybe some extra for pillows!  Isn’t God great?  Only He could have completed this project in such a short time!
Originally, we were going to embroider the children’s names on the pillowcases, but we found so many different colors and patterns, we decided that it would be better for each child to choose their favorite color or pattern. I just wish we could be there when they snuggle in bed the first time with their soft new pillow and pillowcase!
May God continue to richly bless you, your family, and your ministry!
Annette Childress
Wow!!!!!  What a blessing.  We are going to buy pillows in Uganda for our 204  children. We would love help on providing for these.  They are going to cost us $5 a pillow.  You can give one , enough for the triple bunk, or as many as you would like.  We just want all the children to have a pillow for Christmas.  We are so thankful they will come with handmade pillowcases from our friends in Longview.
2. We are also most grateful for our Tyler friends Cliff and MaryAnn Samples.  Their most generous donation to the bath house project not only got it started but also  finished the funding for this project.  It is now closed. Wahooo as Pastor Emmy says.  Here is a recent photo of the progress of the boy’s bath house on the opposite side of our property from the girl’s bath  house.   The gifts for both of these houses now includes enough funds to COMPLETELY TILE BOTH of them.  WOW!!!  Amazing. Thank you from our children to them and the many others that contributed to this project. It will change the lives the these 200 children daily.
1Chronicles 16:34 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!

Stay tuned…..info is coming this week on our PCM Christmas project for 2009 .

Profile of a Courageous Pastor

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Greetings PCM Bloggers.

We want to thank you for your prayers for the orphan children as they continue to battle H1N1 and malaria.  Many of them are improving but a few are still coughing.  Thank you for lifting them up this past two weeks.

Here is a note from Pastor Emmy speaking about our friend Pastor Charles.  He is in charge of all the construction at our Mbarara school site:
I want to thank God for Pastor Charles. He and his wife, Grace:

They have 5 Children,3 boys and 2 girls. His home area is in Tororo Eastern Uganda near the boarder of Uganda and Kenya. He came to western Uganda working with the construction company called ROKO.  He was not yet saved but a typical drunkard but with the grace of God,the Lord used me to preach to him and He got saved in 1997.  Since he got saved he came so committed to church bible studies and to all other Church activities.  When his company finished their job in western Uganda, they asked him to go to another area where the the company had got another contruct but he refused to go and he said since I got saved from this place I don’t want to leave my Church and Pastor to go anywhere else before I grow strong I may backslide. He remained with me and we passed through a very tuff situation where getting food for both of our family was not not easy. But he remained committed to the church and the Lord kept on changing him. In the spring 2008 He become seriously sick about to die even and when we they tested his blood they found that He was HIV AIDS positive but the good chance when they tested his wife, miraculiously the wife was negative. We prayed so much because by the time he become very sick,he was helping us a lot to pastor the Church and also in construction work. But for Charles this illness is a very big challenge to him. But he has helped us  so much at the school.  Because all the buildings we have at School he has been the one heading all that work. And also helping in the Pastoral work. These days he has been seriously sick again with malaria and stomachache but whenever he could feel some relief he could come to supervise the work. We could some times tell him you’re not well just keep at home until you recover but he cannot manage that. You just see him coming and sit at the work day after day.  When he feel weak he goes in the store and sleep until he gains some strength he comes back and see what the the other workers are doing.

He has helped our ministry a lot beloved. Keep him in your prayers. He has no house of his own but still renting. Pray for strength for his body  and many more days on this earth to continue the terrific work he is doing.

Emmy

I am amazed at what Pastor Charles has done, what he is doing,  and what will be done…… No one works any harder at our site than this man.  What a blessing he has been .  Just look at the these latest construction photos.

The girl’s bath house is going up well……..

The boy’s dorm has been started with a generous donation for our friends from Wales.

Lord give us strength to persevere like our friend Pastor Charles.

We humbly ask our friends at PCM to lift Pastor Charles up in your prayers tonight………

The Lord has much more for him to do at our site…….

Remember God hears our prayers and nothing is impossible for Him.
